Took me forever! I am not happy with my time, but I guess I did finish, so maybe I should just suck it up! I need to stop skipping my weekday workouts b/c it is clearly showing in my long runs.
I abandoned my built-in walk breaks from the start and just walked whenever I needed, and I definitely was struggling at the end. Maybe the regular walk breaks aren’t so bad afterall. Also, I stopped 1/2 way and ate lunch and took Advil which was a good move, but I still had trouble running out of gas around 18 miles. The gels just don’t carry me passed about the 17 mile mark so I’m gonna have to figure out something different with eating. Once my brain is short on food, it gets downright belligerent.
I have to admit, I am really starting to wonder if I can finish this thing. I hope the excitement and scenery of the marathon will help distract me and carry me along when I have these moments of wanting to give up.

I haven’t been keeping up on your posts so I don’t know, is this your first 20 miler? My first one I broke down and walked at 17 miles. I was pretty upset, but my second one went great. I regained my confidence and felt great. Then I got sick and lost 2.5 weeks of training. Yesterday, I did 12 and wondered how the hell I would get through 26 by next Sunday. But WE WILL SURVIVE!! We can do it. Don’t give up.

Yes, that was my first 21 miler. I am supposed to do 23 this Sunday, but my legs don’t feel fully recovered from the 21 miles yet. So I’m thinking I might do 2 12 mile runs over the week instead of 1 long one and then aim for a single 23-24 mile run 3 weeks before the race.
I have to admit, I purposefully looked for the easiest training plan that I could find and that is biting me in the butt now. Live and learn! Good luck on your final week and your race! You are right WE WILL SURVIVE!! Be sure to let us all know how you do and any tips you learn along the way
